Denver Academy’s Annual Gala To Benefit Tuition Assistance Program

Gala: Denver Academy celebrates their students for the 49th year. The “Speakeasy, Give Greatly” Gala will be held at the Ritz-Carlton Downtown Denver on April 18, 2020. All proceeds from the Gala will benefit the Tuition Assistance Program.

Denver Academy (DA), an independent school serving diverse learners in grades 1-12, will hold its annual gala titled “Speakeasy, Give Greatly,” on Saturday, Apr. 18, 2020, at the Ritz-Carlton Downtown Denver. This event is open to the public and net proceeds will benefit the Denver Academy Tuition Assistance Program which supports approximately 30 percent of all students who attend DA each year.

“Last year, thanks to generous donors and participants, we were able to raise over $370,000 for DA’s Tuition Assistance Program,” said Development Associate Sara Verhoestra. “ In celebration of the year 2020, we will celebrate the mission of Denver Academy with a roaring ’20s ball and encourage attendees to dress for the ’20s theme! “

The Gala will begin at 6 p.m. with a cocktail hour and silent auction, followed by a mission-driven program, dinner and a live auction. Past live auction items have included trips, concert tickets, a poker party with DA’s Headmaster and much more.

Leading up to the Annual Gala, Denver Academy will host a “Paddle Battle” on Feb. 22, beginning at 6 p.m. on the DA campus. This is a community-wide ping-pong tournament where participants can enter by bringing a bottle of wine or a gift card valued at $25. All items from the Paddle Battle are then placed in the silent auction the night of the gala. The event is open to the public. RSVP is required by Feb. 18.

“Celebrating its 48th year in 2020, Denver Academy is among the top schools in the nation serving diverse learners, including those with dyslexia and ADD. Because our students come from all over the Denver-Metro area, we invite members of both the Denver Academy community and the larger local community to participate in the DA Paddle Battle as well as the Gala,” said Development Director Karen Lozow. “Both of these events support DA and allow us to inspire and empower diverse learners through student-centered, differentiated and transformative education.”

Ticket sales for Denver Academy’s Speakeasy, Give Greatly Gala start at the beginning of March; regular tickets are $175 and DA Alumni tickets at $125. Local businesses can support the mission of Denver Academy and its students by participating in the Paddle Battle or Denver Academy Gala. Sponsorship opportunities include auction donations, program ads and table sponsorships. For more information, contact Sara Verhoestra at sverhoestra@denver academy.org or 303-777-5870, ext. 260.
