Elevating products, people, brands and businesses is what makes business and the economy boom. Increasingly, PR or public relations firms have become a key booster in the Cherry Creek Valley and across the state and nation. Locally Fitzgerald Petersen Communications, that got its start here and now has offices in three states, is a key connector if you or your business needs to make connections.

From A-Z, there are many public relations companies in the Denver area. Public relations is a strategic communication process that builds mutually beneficial relationships between organizations and their publics. When considering what public relations company to hire, look no further than Fitzgerald Petersen Communications.

Fitzgerald Petersen Communications started in 2005 by Debbie Fitzgerald and Reagan Petersen. Fitgerald and Petersen worked at Ogilvy PR & Influence with an office in Denver. As they each began to start families, they did not want to travel as much. They freelanced their services for awhile and they said to themselves they can start their own company locally and when they landed McDonald’s as a client.

Fitzgerald Petersen started with 20 owners and operators of McDonald’s and no represent over 200 in seven states. “What was funny is that we tried to think of a very clever name for our agency,” said Debbie Fitzgerald, Partner/Co-Founder, Fitzgerald Petersen Communications. And we decided, the name is on the door and clients are always going to know that we want to do the best we possibly can with our names associated with it.”

The clients Fitzgerald Petersen has obtained through the years are Cirque du Solei, Cherry Creek North Business Improvement District, Feld Entertainment, ONE Championship, Walmart, and Los Dos Portrillos to name a few. They have a good mix of large corporations and small businesses to create the right communications mix to stand above the noise. “I think because we worked in newsrooms is a benefit,” said Fitzgerald. “We demand our employees have respect for journalists. We have been in the newsroom and we know how fast it is. We know they are on deadline so the first things out of our mouths when we work with media is ‘what’s your deadline?’ We know the media and we have great contacts. We respect those relationships so much. And I think they respect us.”

Fitzgerald Petersen has grown to eight employees with two full-time in the Denver area in addition to Debbie Fitzgerald and Reagan Petersen. They have two employees stationed in Sacramento, and Albuquerque, since their McDonald’s representation took off.

A key component of Fitzgerald Petersen is making connections and connecting their clients with the audiences that can elevate their brand and achieve their communications goals. By forging connections with media, key partners, communities, influencers, and others.

Part of making those connections is their relationship with the Greater Glendale Chamber of Commerce. “I got to know the Glendale Chamber years ago with our relations with the Glendale Cherry Creek Chronicle,” said Fitzgerald. “My mother lived in Cherry Creek and she could not say enough good things about the Glendale Cherry Creek Chronicle for a different opinion than what she was receiving from her other media. Getting to know Mark Smiley [Chamber President] certainly helped. I didn’t have the Glendale Chamber on my radar until we went to a couple of events and met the people. The people are insanely cool, nice, and down to Earth. It’s authentic, kind, and fun. Everyone is super approachable.”

Throughout the last two decades, Fitzgerald Petersen has been connecting the industry’s top brands to the best public relations opportunities in the business through national and local media campaigns, social media, government and community outreach.

Although Fitzgerald Petersen represents large companies and even Fortune 500 companies, all potential clients are welcome. “We love working for things we truly believe in,” said Fitzgerald. “We want to work for company we truly believe in. I think it’s what we have passion for, what we believe in, what makes us excited, and what we know we can do for that company.”

The Fitzgerald Petersen team has managed clients at local public relations agencies, global marketing and PR firms and supported clients directly in-house.
