Lisa Kennedy of Staybridge Suites
Looking for a home away from home while you travel? Staybridge Suites, located on Virginia Avenue in Glendale, offers all the comforts of home while providing all the amenities of a hotel. The person making sure that guests are having an enjoyable stay at Staybridge is Director of Sales Lisa Kennedy. Originally from Arizona, Kennedy moved to New Mexico as a child and subsequently attended New Mexico State where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in hospitality. She moved to Denver in 1999 and has been working in the hospitality industry for 20 years.
“I like to learn about people and what their experiences have brought them,” said Kennedy. “I can’t imagine a more suitable career for me than the one I am in and Staybridge Suites provides such a comfortable hotel experience that guests become like family.”
Kennedy has been part of the Glendale Staybridge Suites location for just over a year. She says her favorite aspects of her job is working with the associates at the property, learning the fabric of the Cherry Creek business community and immersing herself in the cultural features of the community through events at the Greek Orthodox Church, the JCC and Infinity Park.
“There is a lot going on in this area which is helpful for us and our guests,” she explained. “I really enjoy the shopping and restaurant opportunities in this neighborhood and so do the people that stay with us.”
When guests arrive at Staybridge Suites they have many options, services and amenities to choose from. They can stay in a studio, one-bedroom or two-bedroom suite all of which feature a fully equipped kitchen, living and office areas, free high-speed Internet and more. Hotel services consist of complimentary daily breakfast buffet which can be enjoyed in the “living room” (a common area open to all guests), a 24-hour convenience store, complimentary laundry services and an option to bring your pets. Business amenities include a 24-hour business center, computer work stations, laser printing and a fax machine.
According to Kennedy, another huge draw is the “backyard” which features a swimming pool, hot tub, basketball court, grills and picnic tables. If guests want to venture off property to get some exercise the Cherry Creek Trail is located right outside the front door. Guests can enjoy the 24-hour fitness center, the den and the library that has games as well.
“We provide a more homelike experience than a traditional hotel,” Kennedy said. “All the rooms are larger than a typical hotel and we have a longer length of stay.”
Kennedy adds that some guests have stayed a few weeks or months and others have even lived at Staybridge for a year. With more of a lodge feeling than a hotel Kennedy says that Staybridge is a very social place that encourages guests to hang out together in the common areas like the living room and backyard and attend hosted events like happy hour and evening socials. There is also a complimentary business shuttle offered Monday through Friday to help guests get to and from work or appointments within a three to five mile radius.
In addition to her responsibilities with Staybridge, Kennedy is an Ambassador for the Glendale Chamber of Commerce, a position she’s held since January of this year.
“Within the first few weeks of me starting my job here Larry Harte reached out to me,” Kennedy recalled. “I was so impressed with Larry being so on top of meeting new people in the area and I really like the professional casualness of the Chamber.”
She added, “I’ve always loved people who have an entrepreneurial spirit and I think small businesses are crucial to our local and national economy so I support them as much as I can. I also really enjoy learning about what people are doing and facilitating connections so people can do business together.”
