Boutique Practice Prides Itself On A Strong Doctor-Patient Relationship
In May, Pure Dermatology, located in the heart of Glendale, celebrated its 3-year anniversary. Pure Dermatology is a physician-owned boutique practice which strives to provide excellence in dermatologic care with personalized patient attention. Their board-certified dermatologists, Dr. Samantha Ghiselli and Dr. Cera Hill, are committed to keeping your skin healthy and looking its best.
“It’s been great,” said Dr. Ghiselli, Co-Founder of Pure Dermatology. “Our business has been growing. We’re really interested in getting involved in the City of Glendale. We want to offer free cancer screenings and be a part of community events.” Pure Dermatology will be on hand at the next Chamber event scheduled for June 10, 2021, to offer professional advice and giveaways to all attendees.
Dr. Ghiselli co-founded Pure Dermatology Denver in 2018, after practicing dermatology in both California, and Colorado, since 2006. Dr. Ghiselli is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology and specializes in medical, cosmetic and surgical dermatology, including Mohs micrographic surgery. Dr. Ghiselli initially thought she wanted to be a pediatrician but settled on dermatology as her profession. “When I found dermatology, I found it to be a unique field where you really can build an amazing relationship with your patients and know them for many years and have that doctor-patient relationship of many ages,” Dr. Ghiselli said. “I love that [variety] about dermatology. You have cosmetic, medical, and surgical sides of it.”
Dr. Ghiselli was born in South Africa and moved to Southern California at the age of 10. She received her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Southern California and her M.D. from University of California, Irvine, where she graduated first in her medical school class. Dr. Ghiselli completed her internship at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, and her dermatology residency at the University of California, Irvine, in 2006. She practiced dermatology in Southern California for six years and moved to Denver, Colorado, in 2012.
Dr. Ghiselli prides herself in caring for the whole patient. She is known to have excellent bedside manner and b
e very charismatic toward her patients. That bedside manner has been tested during the COVID-19 pandemic and the shutdown that ensued. “The hard part as a physician is that a huge part of doing medicine is shaking your patients’ hand and greeting them,” said Dr. Ghiselli. “We have lost that not only in medicine but in the world of today. I think COVID changed things as people stopped coming in unless they were really worried about something. So, we switched to telemedicine and it flourished in a way that forced people to do something in a way that in some ways will be beneficial and we can keep forever.” For instance, for non-emergency type things like a rash, it saves time and is more convenient.
As we head into the summer months and the sun is shining brightly, Dr. Ghiselli recommends steps to take care of yourself. First and foremost, she recommends wearing SPF 30 sunscreen every day. “Ideally, you should find a product you are willing to put on every day,” said Dr. Ghiselli. “I think a lot of us think that we put sunscreen on when we are active, going to the pool, going on a hike, but we really should put sunscreen on every single day.”
