‘People Helping People’ Is The Philosophy That Unites The Credit Union Movement
Through the years, countless members across the country have personally been affected by the unique not-for-profit cooperatives as they partner with communities to fill local needs through donations, charitable events, volunteering, and of course, life-empowering financial services.
The annual CUNA Awards reflect and celebrate the astounding accomplishments of credit unions in the areas of member service, community impact, and financial education.
GoWest is honored to shine a light on this year’s state-level CUNA Awards winners from across the GoWest region and their incredible achievements.
“Credit unions listen to their communities, bringing timely and relevant opportunities to their members — it’s an honor to partner alongside them,” said Christine Ruzzi, GoWest’s VP of Member Impact. “Congratulations to this year’s winners!”
Westerra Credit Union has been honored with the prestigious Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award by the GoWest Credit Union Association in recognition of their Westerra Cares community engagement initiative. Westerra was selected as a state winner for Colorado in the category of credit union with more than $1B in assets, and are now being considered for national placement, with those results being announced later this fall.
Westerra Cares focuses on education, financial literacy, and community basics. In 2022, 198 unique Westerra staff members participated in this program, volunteering a total of 1,232 hours. Learn more about Westerra Cares at www.westerracu.com/about/community.
This award is an example of the dedication and hard work of the Westerra Credit Union staff as well as their members, whose membership at Westerra helps make their communities a better place. As they celebrate this remarkable achievement, they look forward to many more years of positive impact and community service ahead. Westerra’s journey has just begun, and they are excited about the opportunities to make an even greater difference in the days and years to come.
