On Saturday, Glendale mourned the tragic loss of Young Suk Fero, owner and operator of Fero’s Bar and Grill – a staple of Colorado Boulevard since 1984.  The other four victims were local regulars from in and around the Glendale area and our hearts go out the friends and family’s of each and every one of them.

For 28 years, from breakfast – to closing at 2 a.m., Young Fero was there, diligently attending to every need of her customers.  She treated everyone like family, from new-comers to regulars, there was never a doubt you were welcomed at Fero’s.  Young would remember what you liked to eat and drink, cracked corny jokes, sang Elvis tunes on karaoke nights and was simply an absolute delight to be around – with a never ending source of energy that earned her the nickname of “energizer bunny” from one of the regulars.

Young was proud of the Westword’s award for “Best Tofu and Martini” – but here at the chamber, we have a personal recollection of how proud she was of her marinara sauce, which in truth, really was fantastic.  At the end of the day, no matter what you ordered, it was her delightfully effervescent personality that made the trip worthwhile.   She will be missed.
