June 8th is still a couple of months away but there is no time like the present to start getting your team together for the annual Colorado Kidney Walk. In the words of spokeswoman Kendra Burrell, The Colorado Kidney Walk is a wonderful community event meant to celebrate life, raise awareness, and funds for the National Kidney Foundation.
Kidney disease is a major public health issue with 1 in 3 Americans at risk. The numbers for patients on the waiting list for an organ transplant tops 118,000. Of this number over 96,000 of these are in need of a kidney but fewer than 17,000 people will receive one each year.
The Colorado Kidney Walk is a wonderful annual event being held for the third time at beautiful Infinity Park. The event will include transplant recipients, donors, and people from all walks of life. Burrell anticipates a record setting 700 participants this year.
The dog friendly walk is twice around the park. Registration and family friendly events start at 9AM and the walk begins at 10AM. The event is free of charge and is open to the public.
