Still Time To Watch The Replay And Donate

On April 28, 2020, Colorado UpLift hosted From Our Homes to Yours, an online gathering raising money for underserved students in Denver and Aurora. With the current COVID-19 crisis, Colorado UpLift was forced to turn their planned fundraiser into a virtual experience.

Colorado UpLift is a Denver nonprofit dedicated to building long-term, life-changing relationships with urban youth, and their mission and programs have continued virtually in the midst of social distancing and school closures. In a nutshell, Colorado UpLift introduces urban students to a positive and caring adult who can ensure they don’t have to navigate life’s toughest challenges alone.

From Our Homes to Yours highlighted some of the incredible work UpLift does every day, providing a personal look at the way students’ lives have been impacted by their relationships with supportive, caring adults. Virtual attendees also heard from UpLift’s CEO, Dr. Joe Sanders, about the ways the organization is continuing to come alongside students and families during the COVID-19 outbreak.

If you missed the event, it is not too late to hear from UpLift’s CEO, watch stories of student impact, and enjoy special guest appearances. Go to www.coloradouplift.org for more information.

UpLift’s model is different in that they have full-time staff members that come from the neighborhoods these kids live in, went to the schools they went to, and in many cases, were UpLift students themselves. The levels of credibility and authenticity are simply better with this model, and the results show up in the graduation rates.

UpLift is in over 20 schools and provides mentorship to over 3,500 kids each year. They hold over 200 classes each week where they teach kids, many coming from single parent or no parent homes, several of the values that most other kids learn from their parents like honesty, hard work, and integrity.

And the program works. Roughly 98% of students who go through the UpLift program graduate high school (DPS is around 65%) and about 86% of those graduates go on to enroll in college. Many of these kids will be the first in their families to achieve either one or both of these milestones. Not only does this create success stories for those kids, but it also raises the bar in their families and communities and causes real, positive, generational change.
