If you’ve been to the Applebee’s at 410 South Colorado Boulevard in the heart of Glendale, chances are you’ve met Matt Poffel and he probably even knows your name. As General Manager of Applebee’s Poffel says that he “loves the atmosphere and loves the clientele” at his location. Whether you’re coming in for a quick drink and app experience or full on dinner and dessert he can’t wait to welcome you. Adds Poffel, “I love it that people come in for the first time and enjoy it and then come in again and again.”
Born and raised in Denver, Poffel has strong ties to the community. He coached boys 
basketball for eight years and Pop Warner football for five years. It’s no surprise that he’s found a home with Applebee’s which has an operational model focused on community involvement. “I enjoy the challenge of teaching young men to respect the game, their opponents, and themselves.”
Poffel’s community commitment runs even deeper as part of the Glendale Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Program. “The Chamber is not so big [that] it’s intimidating.” He goes on to point out that if you have a question someone knows someone who has what you need and is happy to help. “The networking is fantastic!” He also gives a special shout out to Chamber Program Coordinator Sherri Liebhauser. “Sherri is wonderful,” he enthuses.
In addition to his great contribution to the community and the chamber, Poffel and his great team at Applebee’s are also contributing to helping you keep your New Year’s resolutions with the introduction of the new Pub Diet Menu. Described as upscale food with calorie limitations, you can treat yourself and still commit to a healthier you in 2015.
