Erik Porter Will Help You Cross Your Financial Finish Line

Bringing 25 years to the Business Brokerage field, Erik Porter of Business Acquisitions, Ltd. founded and sold three entrepreneurial business ventures in the tech and agro culture industries. Currently a Mergers & Acquisitions Specialist for Business Acquisitions, Porter assists buyers in setting up a company to sell, marketing and vetting all potentials suitors and managing the process until close.

“I believe my greatest value may come in the post-sale process for any seller,” Porter says. “Many times sellers think that after their financial exit their hill-climbing days are over. For many that may be true, but a great portion will want to climb another mountain and I can share how I found my next ventures after each sale.”

He continues, “After a successful sale you are elated and proud but many are looking ahead and I believe my experiences can be useful.”

A Denver resident since 1994, Porter started Data939 (now Latasys), Colorado Computer Rental and Waste Farmers. Before joining the firm, Business Acquisitions sold Colorado Computer Rental and Porter credits them for helping him stay focused on running his business, keeping it private until close and getting the best price.

“With the fortunate luck to have built and sold three successful companies, I decided that joining Business Acquisitions would be a natural fit,” he explains. “I am quite aware of what is takes to start a business, feel the pride of building something that actually makes money, the stress of the day-to-day running of a business and the excitement of the finish line.”

In addition to helping people sell their companies, Porter is also an avid cyclist who often rides with Glendale Chamber Executive Director Larry Harte. Porter has participated in the Triple Bypass for the last 12 years (including this year) which is a 120-mile ride from Evergreen to Avon. He also enjoys golfing, snowshoeing and spending time with his family.

Originally from Wisconsin, Erik earned his degree in Marketing from the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater where he was the president of the largest collegiate chapter of the American Marketing Association and was a goalie on the soccer team. He is a graduate of Leadership Denver, a program that develops community leaders and enhances the civic infrastructure of the Denver Metro region, and 50 for Colorado which is a University of Colorado Leeds group.

Porter says that the Glendale Chamber has helped his business by helping to connect him to the area in which he serves, as well as the members of the Chamber. He hopes that the people he’s met within the Chamber and beyond will think of him when it comes to their business goals.

“You can sprint across your financial finish line or fall over it,” Porter says.  “Our job is to help you sprint across the finish line and thus maximize your financial return.  Meet with someone before you are ready to sell – it is the best hour you will spend.”
