Holistic Approach: Arlene Perry, owner of Healthy Life Denver, takes a holistic approach to weight loss. She helps her clients with counseling and nutrition in a 12-step program.

usband back in 2012. “The Chamber is fun and professionally, it is nurturing,” said Perry. “I enjoy the people very much. It has helped me enormously in every way. If it wasn’t for the Chamber, I wouldn’t have gotten this office. I wouldn’t have found the people to help me build my website.”

Perry is a nutritional counselor and she helps people who face the struggle of weight gain. The majority of her clients are those who are tired of the roller coaster of weight fluctuation and the disparity in which is the best diet to follow. Many diets, which are all over the map, have you lose weight quickly but then do very little to help you maintain that weight. Perry has a more holistic approach.

Perry received her training from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York City, where she was trained in more than one hundred dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods. Drawing on this knowledge, Perry helps clients create a completely personalized “roadmap to health” that suits their unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and goals. She earned a BA in Psychology from State University of New York and an MA in Communication and Counseling from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, New Jersey. She grew up in Toronto, Canada, and is married with two grown children.

Perry offers a one-hour initial consultation that can include a Body Mass Composition Analysis. Using state-of-the-art equipment, Healthy Life Denver can provide precision body composition reporting with segmental lean analysis and body fat analysis.

This provides complete essential data for any weight loss or fitness program, and gives clients an exact visual and detailed breakdown of their body’s makeup. You’ll receive a color computer printout and personal analysis of your body’s percentage of fat, muscle, water, your BMI, BMR, and exactly how many pounds you need to lose or gain to be your ideal self.

Another key item offered by Healthy Life Denver is DNA testing. If you are striving to be healthy or lose weight, this process allows you to more accurately identify your body’s needs. With this information, you will have the ability to make better decisions to help improve or maintain your overall health.

By providing a holistic view of your health with Healthy Weight DNA Testing, Healthy Life Denver can help you achieve a more desirable weight, prevent disease, and improve energy levels and overall health.

The package deal includes 12 visits spread out over six months and the cost is similar to what a therapist would charge. “It’s more about the counseling than it is about the nutrition,” said Perry. “People that have an eating disorder are my most challenging.” They are the ones who really do benefit from behavior modification.”

Perry’s passion and mission is to help clients make sustainable changes to improve their health and happiness. As a Personal Health Coach, Perry listens carefully and helps clients navigate the world of contradictory nutrition advice to determine what is required to benefit them. Whether it’s weight management, low energy (lethargy) or reduced motivation to “get up and go,” Perry works together with clients to explore their specific circumstances and habits. This helps to identify the tools needed to regain and maintain a lifetime of healthful balance.

It isn’t a one size fits all approach. Her approach can be summed up by identifying life skills, lifestyles, and habits. It’s a mix of nutrition and behavior modification. “We are trying to minimize the damage and try to change the behavior to try to make it better,” said Perry. “It’s not going to eradicate it.”
